First Communion

First Communion

In order to make sure the the First Communion Candidates are properly prepared for the Sacrament, there will be a mandatory retreat for all First Communion Candidates and their parents. The retreat will be on Saturday, April 22, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Since the retreat will start at 9:00 a.m. we ask that you arrive before then. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided from 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. Lunch will also be provided. The purpose of the retreat two-fold. For the children, it is to let them receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time so that they can be perfect, holy vessels for the Lord in the Eucharist. For the parents, it is to strengthen you with the right tools and resources to help you to continue to nurture the spirit of Christ in your children as they continue their spiritual journeys.

The First Communion mass is Sunday, April 30, 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph's. We ask that you prepare to be at the church at 8:00 a.m. that morning in order that your children can run through practice for the mass. We ask that your children come dressed appropriately as they will not have an opportunity to change before mass starts. A light breakfast will be provided that morning so as to hold everyone over until after mass when we can enjoy a celebratory meal together in the social hall.
